We had a busy Monday in room 10. Our morning began with our daily morning meeting.  The learners are becoming comfortable with the rhythm and pattern of our daily morning meeting.  The activity portion of our morning meeting was “still as a rock.”  This activity is very similar to freeze tag, the children loved playing it.  They had to stand still for 30 seconds and as they learned 30 seconds feels quite long when you have to stand perfectly still.

Then we had math time.  Our lesson this morning was revisiting the mathematical names of the pattern block shapes.  After our lesson we had table time and they used pattern blocks to create all types designs with the blocks.  As you will be able to tell from the photos, they were quite proud of their designs.

After recess we had a garden lesson.  During garden time we discussed what type of agreements we would need to have a successful year of learning and growing in the gardening.  I will post a photo of the agreements. The learners also had time to draw pictures of their favorite vegetable/s in their garden journals.  As you can tell from the photos they all had time to quietly and peacefully enjoy the garden.

Then we had Spanish Time with Elena.  The learners were all engaged and excited to learn during the lesson. Our day ended with First Grade Yoga.  Robin our yoga instructor is doing an outstanding job teaching the learners about the joys and benefits of yoga.
