Yesterday we had a busy morning learning about the letter D. Our poem of the week was about the dragon who liked to defend the kingdom. After we read the poem we drew a detailed picture of the dragon in our magic book.
After PE and recess we read the book “My Five Senses” by Aliki. Then we had a class meeting and wrote about “what do we know about our five senses?” and “what do we want to learn about our five senses?”
This morning for center time we had math tiles, cooking, and a phonics activity. The kinders had math tiles and made sushi, and the first graders had math tiles and learned about words that end with -ell and -est.
For first grade math time we played a fun coin game. The game is called race to 20 cents. The first graders had fun learning how many pennies were in a nickel and a dime. The game involved trading in five pennies for a nickel, then trading in two nickels for a dime. The first player to reach 20 cents won the game.
