On Monday we built our Fairy Houses during garden time. We had to move the location of the Fairy Houses due to Picture Day, which took place in the garden. The children built their incredible Fairy Houses, near the large oak trees close to the fence behind Edison Pre-School. The learners truly enjoyed the process of planning and then building their Fairy Houses. I will take the children up to the area where we built our Fairy Houses for a visit next week.

Ron came this morning to read to the children. He read them the book “And Tango Makes Three.” The book is a non-fiction heartwarming story about a penguin family at the Central Park Zoo in NY.

After recess we made our November calendars, which the children took home with them at dismissal time.

Lastly we had a wonderful class discussion on what is a “small moment / personal narrative.” Many of the first graders had remembered writing their small moments in kindergarten. We decided as a class that a small moment is:
– a small true story about your life
– it can be a peaceful, funny, sad, or a happy moment/story about your life

I also read them a wonderful personal narrative book titled the “Night Shift Daddy” which is a non-fiction book about a little girl whose dad works the night shift.
