On Monday we had a wonderful lesson in the garden – titled how to be a soil scientist. The learners worked in groups of three. Each group looked for items in the garden that were either organic/living or non-organic/non-living. The children collected their items in egg cartons. At the end of our lesson we placed all of their items on a big piece of paper with two columns titled – living or non-living. Here are some photos of our garden time.

On Thursday morning Molly’s mom Jessica came to share their special family tradition. Molly and Jessica shared how their family has “families meetings” every Sunday night to create a sense of connection and shared understanding of their week and family life. It was wonderful to hear about their family tradition – Jessica and Molly thank you for joining us and sharing your story!

While the half of the first graders cooked, the other half had math tiles. The kinders had math tiles and a review slingerland lesson with me.
