Our day started with a visit from Ron. He read the children the booked “How Many Seeds in a Pumpkin.” Ron changed the character names in the book to the children’s names in our class. It was precious to see them so excited! Then we had a short lesson how to measure the circumference of a pumpkin. We learned how to make an estimate. We also learned how to measure using inches and centimeters. This was followed-up with a discussion on how to count all the pumpkin seeds. We decided the most efficient way to count the seeds was to put them into piles of ten. Then it was center time. We had so much fun carving pumpkins, counting seeds, playing ghost bingo, decorating mini-pumpkins, and eating delicious Halloween cookies.
